Molly Mousdell
Pollyfiller, watercolour
"For the theme of plants,I thought it might be interesting to use typical building materials such as poly filler to create man-made organic shapes. I used my succulent as a reference, as we are all stuck inside at the moment and they are the plants I have in the room I work in. I think it is also an interesting exploration on how we observe our domestic settings more during lockdown, and become a lot more intimately aware of them. As an artist, I love working with organic strcutures so the brief of plants fitted my practice well. I felt very comfortable going into it, yet I tried a style that is new to me and I am really happy with theo outcome. I am happy with how they look almost natural but they feel very rough and strong due to the material, I think it adds a nice contrast. "

Anya Evans
"This image is taken from my work focusing on the life cycle and the shift from growth to decay. I created a short stop motion timelapse of a boquet of flowers wilting, spliced with grim images of decaying fish, insects eating rotting fruit and other images such as red wine being poured, which has been symbolic of blood and also death in history. I wanted to determine whether there was antithesis or countinuity between life and death; but there is no obvious answer and certainly no correct answer. Every living things grows, and every living thing will one day decay"

Emma Davenport
Branch, black ink, cartridge paper, brusho inks, pencil
"Influecned by the work of Natalie Ratcliffe and love for botanical relief painting, I experimented with various media including natural organic forms, ink/water colours and drawing. Adjusting the pressure whilst printing allowed me to develop a range of subtle and delicate prints as well as harsh and textured reliefs emulating the surface texture. The collages consist of selected colour blocks, forming the base of the collage which is built up in layers of prints and hand drawings."

Watercolour, permanent marker
"For the Museum Of Plants I have taken inspiration from a collection of my favourite plants and flowers; sunflowers and hydrangeas. Then I created a brief poem that captures the bittersweet and fleeting existence of a bloomed flower, conveying how beautiful they are within this period"

"This two inch cheese plant drawing plays on the idea of scale, this plant can grow up to 9ft tall! Often oversized or miniature things are depicted as cute and thats something I wanted to focus on in this piece"

Molly Crombie
Pressed flowers, epoxy resin
"Ever since I started using resin as a medium last year I have been fascinated with the concept of presevertion. Finding flowers, drying them as well as arranging them all to become part of this process that I developed over the first few months of lockdown. This was the first larger resin piece I made; the fact that it was bigger than the ones i'd done previously meant I could experiment more with the placement of the flowers."

Cactus, cotton thread, needle
"Amongst the mess of the world right now, I found that since moving to university during the pandemic, my life has changed dramatically. A decline in my social life, education, fitness nutrition and mental health. Often, I feel I'm desperately trying to stitch my life together as I hope for the future and try and make the best of most days despite feeling like my leaves are falling off and withering away".
